Bangkalan, October 29, 2024 – Transforming a thesis into a recognized scientific work in prestigious journals is no longer just a dream! Today, students from the Communication Studies Program at FISIB Universitas Trunojoyo Madura participated in an intensive workshop titled “Scientific Writing of Thesis: Publish or Perish” in Room RKBA 104. The event featured Erwin Rasyid, M.Sc., a lecturer and expert in scientific publishing from Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta, as the main speaker.
Attended by more than 100 final-year students, the workshop equipped participants with exclusive techniques to produce publishable scientific works. In this session, Erwin discussed various effective strategies, from selecting relevant topics and adjusting writing styles for journals to effective tips for avoiding “writer’s block.”
“Writing a quality thesis is not enough—publication is a tangible step to introduce our research to the world. You are not just students here, but researchers who can make an impact,” Erwin passionately stated.
The workshop also included hands-on practice sessions, where students were invited to identify journals suitable for their research. The Q&A session was lively, with intriguing questions about how to highlight the novelty of research and tips for addressing reviewer revisions.
By participating in this workshop, students at Universitas Trunojoyo Madura are expected to be more confident and ready to navigate the competitive academic world. “The hope is that the knowledge gained here will not only be useful for completing theses but also encourage publications that elevate the university’s name on national and international stages,” Erwin concluded.
The event successfully sparked enthusiasm among students to create and showcase their academic existence through scientific publications.
