Cindicat Pictures, short for Cinema Indie Community, is a community of film enthusiasts from Trunojoyo University, Madura. This community was officially established in March 2013. It was initiated by Rahman Ramdhani, a Communication Science student from the class of 2011, along with seven other individuals who drew inspiration and received moral and material support from their fellow Communication Science students at Trunojoyo University, Madura, since 2008.
During its early stages, this community produced its first film using funds raised through self-help contributions from its founders. The first film created by this community was Bakso Bachelor (2013), based on Sohib’s script. This film served as a stepping stone for the community, receiving remarkable appreciation from the public when it was premiered in the RKB A Hall.
As the Community gained more recognition, an increasing number of members joined and ultimately succeeded in producing films, establishing their presence to this day. Among the successfully produced films are the documentary “Episode Gili Labak” (2013) showcasing the Sumenep Island Gallery, “Jogja Istimewa” (2014), and nostalgic fiction films such as “SMS” (2014), “Broken Maxim” (2014), “Gift of Death” (2015), “Me and My Life” (2014), “Metamorfosa” (2015), “Dialektika Bisu” (2015), and the documentary “Title Opo Cok” (2016). Additionally, the ongoing production process for the Madura Anklet film began in 2016.
At a very young age, this community has managed to achieve several noteworthy accomplishments. In the Eagle Award Documentary Competition, two films from Cindicat made it to the top twenty nationally: “Imron and Sulaiman” and “Masruri and Ferry.” In the subsequent year, “Gift of Death” (2015) became a finalist in the Malang National Film Festival. Additionally, several individual members of the community have achieved accolades at both campus and regional levels.
In 2014, this community garnered attention from the Communication Science study program, which provided facilities to support the activities and film production of the community. It can be said that this community pioneered the establishment of other communities within the Department of Communication Sciences at Trunojoyo University, Madura.
Presently, this community has grown to a total of sixty active members, utilizing a direct training system during field production, which greatly appeals to fans. The members of this community come not only from the Department of Communication Sciences but also from other departments within UTM. The community was initially led by Golang Sanditya Aguesta (Class of 2011) in 2013, followed by Muhammad Ikhwanul Masruri (Class of 2012) in 2014, and then by Mochammad Imron Rosyidi (Class of 2012) in 2015. Currently, the community is under the leadership of Miftaqul Huda (Class of 2013). With the support of the Study Program and the strong work ethic of its members, the community is ready to continue working and creating in the future.
