What is the GDC (Graphic Design Community) community?

The GDC (Graphic Design Community) is a community that nurtures individuals’ talents in the field of design art, encompassing both manual and digital techniques. It was founded in 2015 by communication science students who shared a common interest in design. The aim of GDC is to foster solidarity and facilitate the sharing of imaginative ideas through self-development in the pursuit of their hobbies and the desire to further enhance their creative abilities in expressing ideas and imagination.

GDC engages in various activities on a regular basis, typically conducted once every 1 or 2 weeks. These activities involve learning design techniques such as color gradations, proper lettering drawing, and studying materials related to both manual and digital design. Additionally, the community organizes a gathering called “Ngopi Bonus” (Coffee Bonus), where members come together to discuss design-related topics.

The establishment of this community was made possible through the support and encouragement of senior members from the Communication Science program at UTM. With their assistance, a Communication Science student named Widhi Kurnia, along with several close friends, initiated the formation of a community that focuses on the realm of graphic design.

Throughout its existence, the community has undergone several name changes. It started as DKVIKOM, then transitioned to DG Community, and currently operates under the name GDC (Graphic Design Community). Alongside these name changes, the community has also experienced shifts in its management structure at all levels.
