Madura, September 30, 2024 – In an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and hope, Universitas Trunojoyo Madura (UTM) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to formulate the establishment of the Master’s Program in Communication Science on September 30, 2024. The event took place in the meeting room on the 2nd floor of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FISIB) and was attended by alumni of Communication Science from various cohorts, as well as faculty members and academic staff.

Opened with a warm welcome from the Dean of FISIB, this event became an important moment in drafting the vision and mission of the upcoming master’s program. “We invite all alumni to contribute to shaping this program. Collaboration between academics and practitioners is key to creating a relevant and innovative curriculum,” the Dean emphasized with infectious enthusiasm.

The atmosphere of the discussion became more vibrant as alumni shared valuable experiences and their perspectives on the current communication landscape. One alumnus stated, “Further education is not just about theory but also about how we can face real challenges in the industry. This master’s program must be able to address those needs.”

In an interactive session, participants exchanged ideas about engaging curricula and innovative teaching methods. Many interesting proposals emerged, such as the integration of the latest technology and project-based approaches that allow students to immerse themselves directly in the real world.

The event concluded with a commitment from the university to formulate strategic steps based on the feedback received. This FGD not only served as a platform for developing the curriculum but also as an effort to strengthen the bond between UTM and its alumni, as well as to build a network beneficial for the development of communication science in Madura.
